Gene - To See The Lights (Demon Music Group)

Gene's ‘To See the Lights’ is the perfect encapsulation of the first phase of the band. Inspired by the songs of The Smiths, The Jam and The Faces, Gene released four studio albums and a collection of B-sides and radio demos between 1995 and 2001. It is good to see them back, with a promise of more new songs. For now, savour the band’s early days with this compilation. Highlights include ‘Be My Light, Be My Guide, ‘Sick, Sober and Sorry’, ‘To See the Lights’, ‘Sleep Well Tonight’ (Live - Forum 31/3/95), ‘I Say a Little Prayer’ (Live - Glastonbury 25/6/95), and ‘Olympian’ (Live - Forum 31/3/95).
